Full Service ASP Model

The solution offered by Nautilus incorporates an Application Service Provider (ASP) model wherein the NextGen software and servers are hosted and maintained remotely.  Physician practices access the NextGen systems via thin client devices (PC’s, wireless tablets, etc.) and there is no need for in-office servers.  Database maintenance, back-ups, server redundancy and network connectivity is handled by Nautilus.

The ‘full service’ aspect reflects Nautilus’ comprehensive approach to system implementation and on-going support.  Our staff works closely and collaboratively with the physician practice throughout the entire implementation process.  Our approach has proven successful time and time again.  The full service does not end after EMR go live, but rather Nautilus continues to provide application support remotely (24 hour help desk) specifically for issues related to the NextGen system.

Nautilus/NextGen History

In 2001, several physician clients of Hoag Practice Management, Inc.(HPMI) expressed interest in adopting EMR in their offices. These forward-thinking groups participated in a full vendor selection process, including demonstrations and site visits. NextGen was ultimately selected due to its industry-leading software capabilities, enterprise database structure, flexibility to accommodate multiple physician practices/specialties, and willingness to be a full partner in our envisioned deployment model. The first HPMI medical group client went live on NextGen’s EMR system in November 2001. Since then, the Nautilus team (formerly employed by HPMI) has deployed the NextGen product suite to physician practices to over 100 providers.  As a premium client with NextGen, Nautilus has the advantage of superior support and access to NextGen resources. We are also a beta site for testing of new product enhancements and features.

Nautilus’ EMR Implementation Approach

The successful transition from paper to electronic medical records requires extensive planning, physician buy-in, office workflow assessment and redesign. Nautilus’ experienced implementation team takes a hands-on, systematic approach to tackling this process, recognizing that the switch to EMR represents a major change to both physicians and staff. Our experts provide a proven implementation framework for the NextGen products and guide the medical office through the steps to becoming live on the system. Over the past few years, the NextGen practice management system has been deployed to over 100 Hoag affiliated providers and the EMR solution to more than 50 providers in our service area.  Medical practices become full participants in the collaborative effort and commit the time required to ensure successful execution and realization of expected EMR benefits.
